The Canada duck hunting season in Saskatchewan starts September 1st and and we
operate through the 3rd week in October. At Goose Haven Canada, the premier Duck
Hunting Outfitters, we offer 2 hunts a day. Typically, we goose hunt in the morning and
duck hunt in the afternoon. The duck hunting in Canada, at our location is excellent!
You can expect to harvest a wide variety of different kinds of ducks. Our duck hunting
guides see almost every species of duck in North America. Our clients are often amazed
at the different kinds of ducks taken in 1 day of duck hunting. The most common ducks
are Mallards, Pintail, Teal, Gadwall and Wigeon. Every year is a little different. Of course,
alot of the Canada duck hunting depends on the environment. But regardless of drought
or breeding ground conditions, we always seem to have plenty of ducks. We employ the
best duck hunting guides. Our duck guides have a wealth of experience. Canada duck
hunting is in their blood, they have done it all their life. The duck hunting in Canada, at
our location is unique. And to be honest it is not always easy. We are located in a major
migratory staging area. The area is unique in that there are so many species of duck that
visit each year. We can actually see how the ducks migrate, and the different time frames
the ducks head south. We see Mallards migrate in great, huge flocks. Like rolling clouds
in the sky. Other ducks, like Redheads, seem to arrive in steady streams. The actual duck
population in our area changes virtually day to day. An empty pothole one day can have
thousands of ducks the next day. This dynamic environment provides some outstanding
duck hunting. But it also creates challenges. The seemingly constant influx and outflux
of ducks means spotting (scouting) is the crucial element for success. As a empty pothole
can be filled with ducks the next day, a pothole full of ducks can be empty the next day.
Our duck guides and spotters constantly locate new birds and monitor the existing ducks.
Based on the situation we formulate a plan for each group of clients. We maintain a few
contigency plans, and usually have multiple duck spots lined up for the group. We check
the spots in the morning and verify the ducks. We then hunt the best duck hunting spot
that afternoon. If you arrive on Sunday, we can't tell you where you will be duck hunting
on Tuesday evening. But Tuesday morning we will tell you where you are duck hunting
that afternoon. We only hunt the best spots, and those spots have to be verified the same
day. We try not to leave anything to chance. We do everything we can do to provide the
best possible Canada duck hunting experience. This approach to your duck hunting is
another example of what sets us apart from alot of other duck outfitters. We don't take
you duck hunting to a designated spot that is usually good. We take you duck hunting to
a spot we know is good!
Goose Haven Canada Duck Hunting Outfitters is located on the boundry of the Provincial
Forest and the northern most part of rich agriculture. As the ducks migrate south we are
the first set of grain, oat and pea fields they encounter.....and they pile in. Loading up on
carbohydrates and stacking their energy stores the ducks are in a feeding frenzy. Some of
our best duck hunts have been in Barley fields where clouds of ducks, like swarms of bees
are attacking the grain. At Goose Haven the Canada duck hunting opportunities seem like
they are endless.
